Genre is the Term for any category or association of similar film conventions and stereotypes which also affect other forms of art.
Genres are formed by similar conventions that evolve and adapt over time as new genres are invented and the use of the old ones are discontinued.
A common Horror Film will follow a set of codes and conventions such as
  • Suspenseful Music
  • Dark Lighting 
  • Jump-scares
  • Quick Camera Movements
  • Scenes in the dark
  • Heavy Breathing
  • Bad Weather
